Lubin Penna, Farrier, Introduces an Innovative Hoof Care Method
Lubin Penna, a skilled farrier, has developed an innovative approach to equine hoof care that combines the benefits of barefoot movement with effective protection. Drawing on his research and extensive experience in high-level stables, he identified the limitations of traditional horseshoeing and barefoot techniques.
In collaboration with showjumping rider Julien Anquetin, this dynamic duo designed a bonding process that utilizes a safe, fast-setting adhesive and a sole capable of absorbing shocks and vibrations. This solution is both comfortable for the horse and easy to apply for professionals.
The sole typically lasts an average of up to 10 days and, in some cases, up to 30 days, marking a significant advancement in equine hoof care. It is important to note that the method requires precise hoof trimming, and the sole is not a substitute for the natural hoof wall. Proper application under suitable conditions is essential to ensure optimal adhesion.
By adopting this approach, horses benefit from improved blood flow and a natural range of motion, all while being protected. This system is particularly effective during transitions from horseshoes to barefoot, allowing for a pain-free process.
This innovation has the potential to transform equine hoof care practices, providing a respectful and effective alternative for maintaining horse health and performance.
